Bhopal, April 28 — Madhya Pradesh is witnessing a significant shift in weather patterns, bringing much-needed relief from the intense heat. However, unseasonal rains have raised concerns among farmers. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast rain, thunderstorms, and hailstorms across the state for the next four days.
Today, Monday, hail alerts have been issued for 11 districts, including Jabalpur, while several other areas are expected to experience light showers, thunderstorms, and gusty winds.
Hailstorm and Rainfall Forecast for 11 DistrictsAccording to IMD, the interaction of a Western Disturbance and a Cyclonic Circulation has altered the weather across Madhya Pradesh. Hailstorms are likely today in Chhindwara, Pandhurna, Seoni, Balaghat, Jabalpur, Mandla, Dindori, Anuppur, Shahdol, Umaria, and Katni districts.
Other areas like Singrauli, Sagar, Narmadapuram, Betul, and Dewas may experience thunderstorms and light showers. The wet spell is expected to continue on April 29, April 30, and May 1, though intense heat and localized heatwave conditions may also persist, especially in the western regions.
Heatwave Continues Amid Rainfall in Several RegionsOn Sunday, mixed weather conditions were reported across the state. Rainfall was recorded in the eastern regions including Chhindwara, Damoh, Jabalpur, Mandla, Dindori, Sagar, Vidisha, Narsinghpur, Seoni, and Umaria, while the western regions continued to experience heat.
Significant temperature drops were observed, with Naugaon (Chhatarpur district) recording a sharp 10°C drop — from 43°C on Saturday to 33°C on Sunday. Other notable temperature declines included Chhindwara (4°C), Khajuraho (4.2°C), Sidhi (6°C), Seoni (2°C), and Malajkhand (3.4°C).
Meanwhile, Ratlam remained the hottest city at 43.3°C, followed by Guna (41.6°C), Dhar-Khargone (41.2°C), Narsinghpur (41°C), Khandwa (40.5°C), Tikamgarh (40.2°C), and Shivpuri (40°C). Among major cities, Bhopal recorded 39.2°C, Indore 40.4°C, Gwalior 40.2°C, Ujjain 41°C, and Jabalpur 37.5°C. The coolest district was Sidhi at 31.8°C.
Residents are advised to stay updated with weather alerts and take necessary precautions during thunderstorms and possible hailstorms.
