NEW DELHI: The Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has arrested four terrorists with alleged links to the terror outfit al-Qaida in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS), officials said on Wednesday.
ATS DIG Sunil Joshi confirmed the arrests and said a detailed press conference would be held soon to share more information about the module and its operations.
According to police sources, the arrests mark a significant breakthrough in counter-terror efforts, as the group is believed to have been in contact with AQIS operatives. The identities of the suspects and the nature of their activities are expected to be revealed following further investigation.
The ATS has not yet disclosed whether weapons, explosives, or communication materials were recovered during the operation.
