NEW DELHI: The government on Saturday said that Pakistan has been continuously targeting India’s western borders using drones, long-range weapons, loitering munitions, and fighter jets.
During the joint briefing, Colonel Sofiya Qureshi said that Pakistan targeted 26 locations from Srinagar to Chhalliya and attacked Army hospitals, civil infrastructure and military sites.
"Pakistani army is continuously attacking the western borders; it has used drones, long-range weapons, loitering munitions and fighter jets to attack India's military sites. India neutralised many dangers, but Pakistan tried to infiltrate via Air at more than 26 places, and they damaged our equipment and personnel at air force bases in Udhampur, Bhuj, Pathankot, Bathinda. They used high-speed missiles at 1:40 am to target Punjab's air base. They even attacked health facilities and schools," Qureshi said.
"Pakistan’s aggressive stance on the Western Front continued and tired to target the Indian Army. Attacked 26 locations from Srinagar to Chhalliya. Damage reported in airbases in Udhampur, Adampur, Pathankot, and Bathinda. Pakistan targeted Army hospitals in Srinagar, Avantipur, and Udhampur," she added.
Wing Commander Vyomika Singh accused Pakistan of moving its troops towards forward areas, indicating an offensive intent to further escalation.
"Pakistan Army has been observed to be moving its troops towards forward areas, indicating an offensive intent to further escalation. Indian armed forces remain in a high state of operational readiness, and all hostile actions have been effectively countered and responded proportionately," Singh said.
"Indian armed forces reiterated their commitment to non-escalation, provided the Pakistan side reciprocates," she added.
Further, Qureshi said that the that the armed forces, in a punitive action, carried out a precision strike only at identified military targets
"In a swift and calibrated response, Indian armed forces carried out a precision strike only at identified military targets," she said.
"Pakistan has also attempted to execute a continued malicious misinformation campaign, with claims of destruction of the Indian S-400 system, destruction of airfields at Surat and Sirsa... India unequivocally rejects these false claims being spread by Pakistan," she added.
This comes hours after the armed forces, in punitive action, targeted at six Pakistan air bases following continued provocation across Line of Control and International Borders.
Border Security Force also destroyed a terrorist launch pad Sialkot's Looni after Pakistan initiated unprovoked firing on BSF posts in the Jammu Sector.
"On 09 May 2025, from about 2100 hrs, Pakistan initiated unprovoked firing on BSF posts in the Jammu Sector. BSF responded in a commensurate manner, causing widespread damage to the posts and assets of the Pakistan Rangers along the International Boundary," the BSF said.
"The terrorist lanch pad at Looni, District Sialkot opposite Akhnoor area was completely destroyed by the BSF. Our resolve to protect India's sovereignty is unshaken," it added.
On Friday, ministry of external affairs rejected Pakistan's claims that Indian Armed Forces were attacking its own cities calling it a "deranged fantasy" and an attempt to spread disinformation about the ongoing situation at the borders.
"Instead of owning up to its actions, Pakistan made the preposterous and outrageous claims that it is the Indian armed forces that is targeting its own cities like Amritsar and trying to blame Pakistan...They are well-versed in such actions as their history would show," foreign secretary Vikram Misri said.
The Indian armed forces had on Wednesday carried out precise missile strikes on nine terror targets in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and Pakistan under Operation Sindoor in retaliation for the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 innocent civilians were killed.
He response followed Pakistan's large-scale violation of Indian airspace on the night of May 7 and 8, when it launched hundreds of drones and heavy artillery across the Line of Control (LoC) and International Border.
