3 defining moments of Nikki Bella's WWE career explored

Send Push
Nikki Bella had a remarkable career in professional wrestling that led her to an induction into the WWE Hall of Fame.

In the discussion of the pioneers of women's wrestling, Nikki Bella is among the top of the conversation. The Fearless One, alongside her twin sister, Brie Bella, revolutionized the business as the Bella Twins . Their fame then transcended the borders of wrestling and spread across major fields of business, sports and entertainment.

However, Nikki Bella herself had an exceptional career as a singles performer. When WWE decided to give separate pushes to both Nikki and Brie, it was evident that Nikki Bella was the more successful one. With a career that led her to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2021, here are the three career-defining moments from Nikki Bella's stint in the Stamford-based promotion:

3. First-ever showdown with her sister
During the final years of their full-time in-ring career, Nikki and Brie Bella were presented more as singles stars than a tag team. A major turn happened at WWE SummerSlam 2014 when Nikki turned on her sister and cost her a match against Stephanie McMahon. This began a feud between the twins, which saw some heated moments. Then, they set up a high-stakes match between the duo at that year's WWE Hell in a Cell event. The Fearless One shut down Brie Mode to win the match. As per the stipulation, Brie Bella had to become Nikki Bella's personal assistant for a match.

2. Marriage proposal at WrestleMania
WWE had begun to acknowledge Nikki Bella's high-profile relationship with John Cena on television in 2017. This led to the popular pair entering into a feud with real-life husband and wife, The Miz and Maryse, with a mixed tag team match set between the two couples. Cena and Bella emerged victorious over them at WrestleMania 33. However, it was right after that Cena got down on his knees and proposed to Nikki, which she accepted in one of the most beautiful moments in WWE history. However, they eventually parted ways a year later.

1. Longest reigning champion

Perhaps the biggest achievement in Nikki Bella's WWE career was becoming the longest-reigning WWE Divas Champion of all time. The WWE Hall of Famer won the title from AJ Lee at the 2014 WWE Survivor Series event and went on to hold the title for an impressive 301 days setting the record for the longest individual reign.
