Who would ever think that the house they are buying as their dream abode could be housing some weird secrets that they would get to know with a suspicious letter sent to them? No one! But something akin to this has happened to a Millennial couple, Courtney and Matt.
They received an unexpected message from the "last surviving member" of the family that previously owned their 130-year-old house. The couple shared a video on the social media app, TikTok sharing the shocking details of the incident in a video that has amassed 1.5 million views.
“We got a letter addressed ‘purchaser,’” said Courtney in the video, adding that the letter came from someone in Canada. “It says, ‘Let me introduce myself. I am the last surviving member of the Madison family who once owned the house, and I grew up in it,’” read the letter. “‘I would like to … tell you about the secret rooms and a few things you may not have been told when you bought the house.’”
What hides inside the house?
Well, the first hidden thing the couple found was a secret liquor cabinet above the fireplace in their front parlour. The cabinet was tucked away behind a sliding, mirrored panel and consisted of some classic and old drinks such as French rosé wine from 1970 and cabernet sauvignon from 1989.
The second intriguing find was a secret room found "in the bathroom, directly opposite the door in the wall." However, when they opened it, it was rather a small crawl space than a room. “My guess is there probably used to be some kind of room up here, but really, it’s just a creepy attic space," said Courtney.
The third interesting find was that of a tiny locked door stationed directly opposite to the toilet which opened up to a sprawling trunk room. “There is this huge space,” she exclaimed. “We’re going to try and figure out how to use this space, but right now it’s just kind of a cool, cool room.”
Courtney and Matt purchased the home from a historical society and reside there with their toddler daughter. The couple has been receiving rave comments on TikTok with the viewers excited for the next interesting find they may discover in their house.
