CNS Adm Dinesh K Tripathi Embarks on Official Visit to Japan

Adm Dinesh K Tripathi, Chief of the Naval Staff, is on a four-day visit to Japan from 30 July to 02 August 2025 to deepen India-Japan defence cooperation, particularly in maritime security and interoperability.

Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, has embarked on a four-day official visit to Japan from 30 July to 02 August 2025. The visit underlines the growing momentum in India-Japan defence cooperation, particularly in the maritime domain, under the aegis of their ‘Special Strategic and Global Partnership’.

During his visit, Adm Tripathi is scheduled to hold key bilateral discussions with senior Japanese government officials, including the Minister of Defense, Mr. NAKATANI Gen, Vice-Minister of Defense, MASUDA Kazuo, and Adm SAITO Akira, Chief of Staff of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF). These high-level engagements will focus on strengthening the bilateral naval relationship and expanding the scope of cooperation.

The discussions will span a wide range of strategic and defence-related topics, with a strong emphasis on maritime security, technological collaboration, and enhancing interoperability between the Indian Navy and the JMSDF. The CNS will also visit JMSDF facilities and engage with the Commander-in-Chief of the Self Defense Fleet at the Funakoshi JMSDF Base, further fostering operational understanding and synergy.

Adm Tripathi’s visit reflects the shared commitment of India and Japan to peace, stability, and the rule of law in the Indo-Pacific region.
