Winter is drawing closer and the cooler days have already started. Along with the cold weather comes a plague of British household issues - including condensation.
Condensation is usually the first warning sign that your home is holding too much moisture. If left untreated, condensation can quickly turn into a much bigger problem. Condensation leads to mould growth which can have serious health implications on you and your family. The best way to combat mould growth in your home is to stop it before it starts.

According to Nancy Whittington-Coates, a window-covering expert atOrder Electric Blinds, your choice of curtains could be the unlikely hero in tackling the problem.
She said: "People often underestimate how much curtains influence a home's temperature and airflow. Used properly, they can help keep heat in and stop condensation forming."
Her golden rule is to select the right curtains and use them right. Thick, lined curtains will keep the heat but make sure you pair them with a cracked window during the day to ventilate.

She said: "Thick, heavy fabrics act as insulation, reducing heat loss through glass.
"But if the room is completely sealed, the warm, moist air has nowhere to escape, so you end up with condensation trapped behind those curtains. That's why I always tell people to open their trickle vents or slightly pull the curtains back for 10 minutes each morning to let fresh air circulate."
Ventilation is the hero when it comes to stopping condensation. She said: "You can have the cosiest curtains in the world, but if the air isn't moving, you'll still get condensation."
Although it feels counterintuitive to open your windows in the depths of winter it's crucial tos top moisture building up. Just 10 minutes every morning is enough to keep the dampness away - and you won't freeze in the process.
The other parts of your home that are susceptible to condensation are your kitchen and bathroom as both of these are "moisture hotspots" due to the steam created by cooking and showering.
To stop this building up, make sure you run your extractor fan for at least 15 to 30 minutes after showering or cooking.
Nancy said: "Bathrooms and kitchens are moisture hotspots, so let those fans do their job properly before switching them off."
