Sky Sports presenter Kirsty Gallacher has opened up on reportedly being "physically assaulted" as she left work in Central London on Tuesday evening (October 28). The 49-year-old broadcaster took to Instagram to share the horrific ordeal which she said has left her "bruised and in shock".
In a video posted to the social media platform, Kirsty, who also hosts a show on Gold Radio, said that the matter was important to share, "especially for women". She went on: "Last night, I was physically assaulted in the streets of Central London, walking from work to my car. The walk I do most nights.
"The streets were lit, there were people around, and I was walking on the pavement." Kirsty alleged that she noticed a guy who was dressed all in black and completely covered up, who was "just walking" at her.
She told her followers how she felt that something was "not right" as she remained vigilant and moved out of his way. Gallacher added: "And then he brushed past me, he turned around and he kicked me, like he was kicking a football. He kicked me in the middle of a street, at about seven o'clock last night, in front of people.
"I turned around and he scarpered." She took a sharp intake of breath before adding: "I'm still in shock now, and I have the bruises to prove it, I'm afraid. I can't quite believe what happened."
Kirsty added that she was not being "provocative" and was "just going about her business" when the alleged attack happened. "I was just walking to my car to go back home to my family," she tearfully added.
The presenter revealed that some girls saw the assault happen and rushed to her aid, while a nearby security guard reportedly did nothing to help.
She continued: "I just stood there and couldn't actually believe that someone, a stranger, had just decided for whatever reason, whether he's got a problem with women or whether he's just an opportunist, he decided he did not like me and he just thought 'I'll give you the boot'. And that is not ok. It's not ok."
Kirsty then became emotional and fought back tears as she said: "It's really sad that that is what is going on in the streets of London. And that is very real." She went on to admit that she never thought it would happen to her, as she is "very vigilant and very careful".
The broadcaster shared: "I couldn't have done more to protect myself, and that still happened to me. Someone decided to just give me a good kicking in the street."
The radio DJ emotionally warned others to stay safe and look after themselves and others around them. She admitted, "I have never experienced anything like it." She urged, "Stay safe." Express.co.uk has contacted Kirsty's representatives and the Met Police for comment.
