A popular food blogger has claimed you can whip up the best ever using just two simple ingredients, and they're likely already in your kitchen. Becky Excell, a bestselling cookbook author known for her gluten-free recipes, shared her go-to method for making perfectly , and surprisingly, it doesn't involve any fancy extras.
According to Becky, all you need is potatoes and oil. No flour, no butter, no extras required. "Crispy roast potatoes recipe - what more could you want?" she wrote.

"For my best ever crispy roast potatoes recipe, you actually only really need two ingredients. Potatoes and oil."
With just a bag of Maris Piper potatoes and a glug of vegetable oil (or garlic-infused olive oil, if you fancy a twist), Becky promises golden, crunchy roasties with a light and fluffy centre every single time.
The beauty of the recipe lies in its simplicity, but also in Becky's foolproof technique. After boiling the potatoes for around 10 minutes, she recommends giving them a good shake in the pan with the lid on.
This roughs up the edges and is the secret to getting that irresistible crunch once they hit the hot oil in the oven.
"You can't be too violent," Becky warned. "Give them a proper shake, that's how you get that crispy exterior."
The potatoes are then roasted in a hot oven at 220°C (200°C fan) for about 40 minutes, flipped halfway through, and finished with optional rosemary or thyme for extra flavour and crunch. The result is roasties that rival anything you've ever had at a Sunday roast.
The recipe is also naturally gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan, and low FODMAP, making it suitable for a wide range of dietary needs.
So if you're tired of soggy spuds or overly fussy recipes, Becky's two-ingredient hack could change your roast dinner game forever.
"What's a roast without crispy potatoes?" she adds. "Just a plate of meat and veg, right?"
