A boy was left in a critical condition after a wall collapsed during a birthday party at a crazy golf course. Police were called at around 5:45pm on Sunday to Sidcup Family Golf on Sidcup Bypass in South East London. Paramedics from the London Air Ambulance rushed the five-year-old boy to hospital, where he remains in a 'life-threatening' condition.
A six-year-old girl was also injured and taken to hospital but she has since been discharged. Early reports suggest the boy may have sustained a head injury, although the exact circumstances are still under investigation and it is not yet clear which wall on the premises gave way.
One witness said the boy was attending a birthday party when the wall collapsed.
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called at 5.39pm on 9 November to reports of an injured person in Sidcup Bypass, BR7.
"We sent ambulance crews, paramedics in fast response cars, an advanced paramedic and an incident response officer to the scene. We also dispatched a trauma team in a car from London's Air Ambulance.
"We treated two children at the scene, one of whom was seriously injured. Both were taken to hospital."
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: "Police were called at 17:44hrs on Sunday, 9 November to Sidcup By-Pass, Chislehurst to reports a child had been injured by a collapsing wall. Officers attended and paramedics were treating a five-year-old boy.
"He was taken to hospital by the London Air Ambulance, where he remains in a life-threatening condition. A six-year-old girl was also injured and has since been discharged from hospital. Enquiries are ongoing."
Following the incident which took place on Sunday, Sidcup Family Golf has closed temporarily.
The firm wrote on its website: "Sidcup Family Golf is closed today following an incident on site.
"Our thoughts are with those affected. We appreciate your understanding at this time and will share further updates when appropriate."
