The first holiday that you ever paid for yourself was probably the most memorable, and the freedom of escaping to a sunny resort, filled with laughter, spicy margaritas and a group of friends seemed like the best time ever. The thrill of being is great for young people, but they should be warned of the potential harms they could find themselves in abroad, innocently.

, an ex-bartender revealed that her role was more than mixing cocktails together. Ciara went on to say "lively nights came with an unwritten rule that you'd drink while on duty."

She had managed to secure a job as bartender and in Playa de las Americas - the island's party hotspot.

Many young people travel to Europe in the summer months to work whilst experiencing the party life without having to worry about cash.

However, Ciara points out some bartenders led drug-seeking tourists to dealers on the strip, which would earn them extra cash.

This is extremely dangerous and puts both the bartender and party-goer in potential trouble if caught.

She said: "I saw other bars involved in more sinister activities, providing a haven for dealers throughout the night. Many young workers on the strip, unaware of the serious risks, found themselves caught up in dangerous situations linked to these dealers.

"Guiding drug-seeking tourists to these dealers would earn them a quick €10. In contrast, my friend and I begged for tips just to quench our thirst, unlike others who seemed to live without such financial worries."

Ciara advised any young person heading abroad on their first party holiday to have fun but to stay vigilant to any potential dangers.
