Game of Thrones icon's forgotten fantasy film given new life on free streaming service

Game of Thrones fans can watch Rose Leslie in a fantasy action film which has just been added to Pluto TV.

The free streaming app is available on Apple and Google devices, and can be accessed through services like Amazon.

Leslie plays Chloe in the film, The Last Witch Hunter, alongside Vin Diesel as Kaulder - a knight cursed with eternal life.

In the present day, Kaulder is a witch hunter for an organization called the Axe and Cross, which aims to keep the truce between humans and witches.

The film boasts a stellar cast, with Lord of the Rings actor Elijah Wood and award-winning Cockney legend, Michael Caine.

Vin Diesel confirmed in 2020 a sequel was in the works at Lionsgate, despite the first film being somewhat of a flop amongst critics.

He told Collider: "When a Last Witch Hunter comes out and it doesn't destroy the box office you, under the old thinking, would go, 'Well, maybe I should focus on something else.'

"But nowadays what's fascinating is that movies find you somehow."

The film received mixed reviews, with Phil P saying on Rotten Tomatoes how the 18% approval rating from critics was "unfair".

He added: "Yeah it isn't great. Vin Diesel just isn't a good fit for fantasy roles. That said it's fun and the special effects make it a fun watch streaming."

Analy H agreed: "The film itself wasn't terrible... but this role was not for Vin Diesel. I can't help feeling that with a different actor this movie would have done much better."

Some critics were more positive, with Charlie Jane Anders sharing: "Last Witch Hunter is basically nonstop fun, with a fast pace and a total willingness to laugh at itself. And not only is there nothing wrong with that, there's everything right with it."

Rich Cline added: "Vin Diesel makes a bid for yet another franchise with a supernatural action romp that's both deeply ridiculous and enjoyably entertaining."
