Soap star Ryan Thomas reportedly didn't have the best start to the year, financially. It was reported that back in January, he had just £1 remaining in his business account.
This follows the cancellation of his prime-time ITV programme 99 To Beat. His business account, R James Thomas Ltd, serves to manage earnings from his television and social media endeavours. Financial records submitted this month to Companies House for the year concluding on 26 January 2025 show that "cash at bank and in hand" totalled £1. This represents a significant decline from the previous year, which concluded with £41,361 in the bank. However, this may not reflect the star's current circumstances, nor does it suggest Thomas faced serious financial difficulties, as the firm was owed money. The sum owed to them by unidentified debtors exceeds what the company owed to creditors, including tax obligations, and according to the documentation, those payments were anticipated to arrive within the same timeframe as Thomas's outgoing expenses.
Equity represents the total value owned by and owed to the business, minus what the company owes. R James Ltd's complete assets totalled £148,466 and after accounting for all outstanding debts, the firm maintained total equity of £28,725.
According to Companies House records, Thomas was appointed as a director of The Thomas Brothers Entertainment Ltd. in May this year, coinciding with the company's incorporation.
Both his siblings, Adam Thomas and Scott Thomas, serve as fellow directors. Each of the three brothers holds 33 out of 99 shares, with a nominal value of £1 per share. The firm has not yet filed any financial statements.
Thomas presents a podcast alongside his brothers titled At Home With The Thomas Bros. Earlier this year, he also fronted 99 To Beat, an ITV game show, with his brother Adam.
The programme was billed as a physical challenge drawing inspiration from Netflix's Korean drama Squid Game and featured 100 contestants competing across various games for a £25,000 cash prize. It was axed after just one series.
Adam Thomas expressed his disappointment about the show's axing on one of his podcasts, Mancs On The Mic, saying: "When I am positive about something, it gets cancelled. Honestly, I don't know what I'm doing wrong.
"Like I did Extra Camp [I'm a Celebrity's spin-off show] presenting, did one series of that, got cancelled. The next presenting job I did was with Ryan, 99 To Beat, and that's got cancelled."
Discussing the programme, an ITV spokesperson said: "99 To Beat is the biggest entertainment launch this year across all channels and streaming platforms. It reached 12.5 million viewers and was streamed over 4 million times on ITVX. The Thomas brothers are fantastic presenters, but unfortunately at this stage we will not be recommissioning."
Express.co.uk has contacted Ryan's reps for comment.
