Greggs has become a household name on the UK high street and is popular among Brits for its affordable baked goods and sandwiches. The bakery chain, which is iconic for its sausage roll and steak bake, has sites across the nation, in city centres, retail parks and transport hubs.
YouTubers Kyle and Madie, who are from the USA, documented what it's like to live off Greggs for a whole day. They posted the video on their YouTube channel, which has around 14,000 subscribers, and a number of Brits have been left chuckling at how they got on. One said: "This had me laughing my head off," while a second put: "Greggs is a national treasure and I love seeing people from other countries trying it and just being amazed."
At the start of the video, Madie said: "On our third day here we were introduced to the holy grail of UK fast food - Greggs. After trying it and loving it so much, we decided to challenge ourselves and only eat Greggs for 24 hours."
They began the video in Newcastle, where Greggs was founded and now has over 30 bakeries across the city. For breakfast, they both opted for a latte while Madie had a bacon and sausage roll and Kyle had a bacon and egg roll.
However, Madie was not left impressed with her choice. She explained: "If I'm being completely honest it looks extremely basic and I probably should have got some sauce to go with it."
She added, "It just looks like it's got some little hot dogs in it with bacon. It's definitely dry, and sauce would make it better."
For lunch, Kyle tried the popular steak bake as well as a sausage roll. Trying the sausage roll, he said: "Another thing they're obsessed with here is sausage rolls.
"It's literally just a sausage in some pastry. Kind of like a corn dog but a sausage. They're just very good!"
The couple left Newcastle after lunch as they were travelling south. On their journey they stopped at a petrol station which had a Greggs bakery, with Madie choosing a cajun chicken rice bowl.
However, as it is served cold in Greggs, she waited until they arrived at the campsite to re-heat it in a pan. She said it was probably her best meal from the bakery all day.
"It's a little bit bland," she said. "But overall it's pretty good." Meanwhile, Kyle got a chicken sandwich, which he also heated up, and concluded that it was "pretty good".
They both finished with a cream cake, which Madie gave an "11 out of 10". Kyle added: "This is so good, good job Greggs."
