Puri: Two persons, including a woman, were electrocuted to death amid Kali Puja festivities at Biragobindapur village under Satyabadi block in Odisha’s Puri district late on Monday.
According to sources, the incident occurred around 1 am during a Bhajan programme at Dakshinakali Peetha in the village. The duo, whose identity is yet to be ascertained, sustained severe injuries after accidentally touching a live wire while approaching the stage. They were reportedly drunk.
They were initially rushed to the community health centre at Sakhigopal hospital and later shifted to district headquarters hospital, where they succumbed to their injuries.
While the bodies have been sent for postmortem, police have collected fingerprints, DNA samples, and photographs of the deceased. Investigators are also examining a tattoo on one of the deceased to establish their identity.
