The second T20 between Australia and West Indies took place on 23 July at Sabina Park, Jamaica, where Josh Inglis played a stunning match-winning knock to lead Australia to a dominant 8-wicket victory. With this win, Australia sealed a 2-0 lead in the five-match T20 series.
What made the night even more dramatic was that this match marked the final international appearance of West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell. Despite hopes for a fairytale finish, Russell’s farewell was overshadowed by Inglis' explosive innings.
Inglis Steals the ShowJosh Inglis, who had an impressive IPL 2025 season with Punjab Kings, carried his T20 form into this series. In the second T20, he smashed an unbeaten 78 runs off just 33 balls, including 7 fours and 5 sixes, scoring 58 of those runs in boundaries alone. His aggressive strokeplay completely took the game away from the hosts.
He had earlier scored 18 off 8 balls in the first T20, but this innings cemented his role as a key figure in Australia's white-ball setup. Cameron Green also contributed with a powerful 56 not out, as the duo chased down West Indies' 172-run target in just 16 overs.
Russell’s Final Game Ends in DefeatFor Andre Russell, who scored a quick 36 runs, this match was emotionally significant. It was his farewell from international cricket, but unfortunately, it ended on a sour note. The West Indies, despite a solid 51-run knock from Brandon King, couldn’t hold off Australia’s fiery batting attack.
