FormerManchester United star Wayne Rooney claims he would find it "frustrating" playing under Red Devils boss Ruben Amorim. Rooney, 39, believes Amorim's penchant for shifting players around the pitch throughout games would ultimately leave him feeling "fed up".
United's lacklustre start to the season continued on Sunday as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Fulham at Craven Cottage. Leny Yoro's header, deflecting in off Fulham's Rodrigo Muniz, saw United open the scoring after Bruno Fernandes had skied a penalty over the bar. However, United's goal was later cancelled out by Emile Smith Rowe.
United's forward line endured a difficult and inconsistent afternoon as they were moved from their preferred positions as the game advanced. Mason Mount eventually dropped deep into midfield to make way for new recruit Benjamin Sesko up top.

New signing Matheus Cunha, initially deployed as a striker, found himself later playing in between the lines as Amorim looked eager to find a solution to his misfiring side. Rooney, speaking on , believes being moved around the pitch to suit different formations can ultimately have an adverse effect on players.
"The one thing, players are getting moved around the pitch, shifted into different positions," Rooney said. "You see Mason Mount playing two or three positions. Cunha, [Bryan] Mbeumo, Amad [Diallo] – players are moving into different positions and from that you can't get a settled run in the team of doing the same thing and one thing.
"I know as a player who did that, it can be very frustrating and all of a sudden you become fed up of it and that shows through body language as well. I just hope that doesn't start to happen with these new players because I think there's a lot of ability in there already early on."
While Cunha hit the post, £71million man Mbeumo struggled to impact the game. Another of United's new signings, Sesko, also failed to make his presence felt with the Slovenian not even registering a shot on goal.
After the game, Amorim defended his new trio. “It was a tough match, and when we scored the goal we forgot about maintaining the way we play and tried to maintain the result. We want to win so bad,” Amorim said.
“He (Sesko) needs time. It’s not easy to come off the bench when the game is really fast. He is learning [that] the game is faster than the Bundesliga but he had some good connections with his team-mates.”
However, United's £73m signing from RB Leipzig did face the wrath of another former United starin Gary Neville, after the 1-1 draw with Fulham.
Speaking on his Neville said: “Sesko, at the moment, let's just say it, he's nowhere near in terms of fitness or just getting up to speed."
Neville also echoed Rooney's concerns that Amorim's chopping and changing on the pitch had a negative impact on United. Neville added: “The problem he'll have is that he wants to keep [building] the team.
"But I think what you saw when they brought Sesko on, put Mount into midfield and took Casemiro off, they did get opened up and it looked like Fulham could score.”
