Rory McIlroy's of all four majors, was a moment for the to see. However, it was the private celebrations with his nearest and dearest that held the most meaning.
After his major win, opted for a low-key week, visiting both England to check on his house under construction and his home turf in Northern Ireland. Landing at George Best Belfast City airport just days post-victory, Rory shared an emotional reunion with his mother Rosie, admitting they were "both a mess for a few minutes" as they reconnected on home ground.
Speaking in the US ahead of the Truist Championship, McIlroy expressed his desire for privacy: "I didn't want any fanfare, I tried to keep it as private as possible," he said on Wednesday afternoon.
The champion golfer cherished the time spent with family: "I just wanted to see my parents and the people that were closest to me. And we had a really nice two days. It was, you know, with my dad, like, I never get that emotional with my dad. It was great, it was great to see him."
The emotional impact of seeing his mother was profound: "But then, you know, when I saw my mum we were both a mess for a few minutes. As an only child, I have a bond. I'm lucky and I know a lot of people feel this, that they have a close bond with their parents.

"And I think as time goes on, I'm getting a little older, I realise that they're not going to be around forever. It means even more that they were still around to be able to see me complete the slam and fulfil those dreams."
Rory McIlroy, the world number two, is eager to return to his usual routine after a busy period that included defending his Zurich Classic title with pal Shane Lowry and fulfilling media duties in New York. He's relieved to be free from the "burden" of pursuing the career grand slam.
The golf ace has triumphed four times at Quail Hollow, prompting the Truist Championship to shift to Philadelphia Cricket Club this year.
"I'm obviously going to feel more comfortable and a lot less pressure, and I'm also going back to a venue that I love," McIlroy expressed about the forthcoming major.
"It's nothing but positive vibes going in there next week with what happened a few weeks ago and then with my history there and how well I've played at Quail.
"Yeah, it probably will feel a little bit different. I probably won't be quite as on edge as I have been for the last few years when I've been at major championships.
"I'll probably be a little bit better to be around for my family and I'll be a little more relaxed. I think overall it will be a good thing."
