Mason Mount says Manchester United's players have targeted an immediate return to Europe next season.
United missed out on qualifying for the Champions League after losing the Europa League final 1-0 to Tottenham in Bilbao back in May. Ruben Amorim's side were also responsible for United's worst league finish for 51 years, ending the season in 15 th place in the Premier League.
With no European football at Old Trafford next season for only the second time in 35 years, attacking midfielder Mount said getting back there is the primary aim for next season. “We obviously want to be back in Europe,” said Mount. “That's a massive, massive thing for the club.
“That's the focus. The Champions League would be amazing for us. As a group - and as players - we want to be playing in that competition. So that's the goal. We know how difficult that is now in the Premier League. There are so many teams that are investing and playing very good football at the moment.”

Mount, 26, said Amorim and his coaching staff analysed in detail what went wrong last season in a bid to ensure United hit the ground running when the new campaign gets under way. “It's the small details here and there that really affect that at the top of the league,” said Mount. “It's small little details that the manager sees.
“When we do analysis on games, like the first game we played or even in training, it's just seeing those moments and everyone understanding that that matters. That small little movement, the pass, appreciation, this all counts and these small wins in the game will help create chances and will help us be more dominant with the ball. So that's what we've been looking at.
“From day one of pre-season, it's about standards and details within training, on and off the pitch, and really focusing on what we need to do to be better and to perform better. We haven't done loads of analysis of last season. We looked at a few areas that we can improve on, but this is a new season, it's like wiping the slate clean.
"Coming into this season with a different kind of attitude and a feeling about it and we're ready to go. The vibe around the group is very energetic. In training, it's been a few kicks here and there, because we want to win in games. That's what you want as a group. You kick your mate, but after training, it's all good.”
