Inside Lily Allen's intimate 40th birthday celebrations with loved ones

celebrated her this weekend with her closest friends and family. The Smile singer took to her page on Sunday to share a picture of the gorgeous spring-themed birthday cake as she thanked her loved ones for helping her celebrate under 'tricky circumstances'.

The cake was covered in white icing with 'Lily 40' piped onto the middle in light pink. The edges were decorated with berries, figs, passion fruit and flowers before it was dusted with icing sugar. She captioned the post: "Thank you to all my beauty friends and family who showed up for me and made my birthday a special one under some tricky circumstances. Love you all," as she tagged her pals.

Among the guests at her intimate party included fashion designers Kim Jones OBE and Katie Hillier, close pal and podcast co-host Miquita Oliver, Phoebe Oliver, Gracie Allen and chef Andi Oliver.

Lily's friends and fans took to the comment section to wish her a happy birthday, with Andi writing: "Love you sugarplum," and Natasha Bedingfield adding: "40 is the best."

One user posted: "Dearest Lily, I really hope you had some special moments for your birthday. I know you were surrounded by love, Miquita’s family is your family. You’re so special and beautiful, I hope the next year brings you so much happiness. Lots and lots of love."

Lily's birthday was a wholesome one perfect for spring, with tables laid out in a stunning backyard complete with flowers, decorations and, of course, food.

British painter Lucien Freud's daughter, Rose Boyt, shared snaps from the big day. One snap showed Lily in blue jeans, a shirt and a brown sweater over it as she stood in front of her cake.

"The birthday of my god-daughter . What a woman," Rose said. "Obviously at her christening when I stood there in the church with my fingers crossed behind my back and swore that I loved God and nobody smote me with their sword or whatever I had no idea that that small beloved child was going to turn into such a marvel.

"Still as beloved, still as beautiful, still as creative, imaginative and bold. So happy to be on her team."

On Lily's actual birthday, Lily took to her page to share her look for the day, which included pleated olive green trousers, a sheer mesh baby blue body and a lengthy gold necklace with a red heart pendant.

The star rocked red locks and completed her sultry look with black sunglasses. "Happy Birthday to me," she captioned the post which had fans rushing to the comment section to compliment her.

One friend wrote: "How are you Benjamin Buttoning? You look great but more importantly you continue you spiritual evolution to greatness and thats even more impressive."
