Freeview viewers warned 'screen may go black' in 100 areas this week - full list

Freeview users across the UK are being urged not to fiddle with their TV settings this week, as engineering works could lead to disruptions in picture quality.

A spokesperson for Freeview advised: "If you are affected by engineering work, please don't try and retune your TV - reception will be restored as soon as the engineering work is completed. If you don't want to miss your favourite programmes while the work is taking place, check out our handy guide:".

"If you're not sure what transmitter you're predicted to get your signal from, put your postcode into our Detailed Transmitter Information tool to check."

The popular service, which provides a host of channels including , , , and Channel Five without a subscription fee, relies on a good aerial connection and a compatible device such as a TV or set-top box.
