Aldi has added InPost Lockers to more than 500 of its UK stores.

The lockers allow shoppers to collect and return online orders while doing their weekly supermarket shop. Aldi says the InPost lockers have been introduced to 536 of its stores across England, Scotland and Wales.

The grocer plans to add more of the lockers to further stores in the coming months. The supermarket is aiming to have at least 600 stores with lockers installed by the end of the year. Aldi has more than 1,050 stores.

Jonathan Neale, Managing Director of National Real Estate at Aldi UK, said: “Convenience and efficiency is important to our shoppers, which is why we’re continuing to roll out InPost lockers to as many of our stores as possible.

“It has always been our aim to save our customers time as well as money, so making it easy for people to pick up or return parcels while getting the weekly shop done has been really valuable.”

Neil Kuschel, CEO at InPost UK, said: “Our growing partnership with Aldi reflects a shared commitment to offer the best everyday shopping experience for customers across the UK.

“Together, we’re helping to create a more convenient, cost-effective and sustainable way for shoppers to manage their parcels, making collection and returns as easy and accessible as possible.”

It comes after Aldi published an updated list of priority locations across the UK where it wants to open new stores. Each site should be able to accommodate a 20,000 sq ft store with around 100 parking spaces and ideally be near a main road with good visibility and access.

The supermarket is also on the lookout for sites to accommodate its Aldi Local store format in Central London in zones one and two, which typically have a minimum size of 5,000 sq ft of trading space, along with an additional 3,000 sq ft of ancillary space.

Anybody who has a site that may fit Aldi’s requirements should contact realestateacquisitions@aldi.co.uk. This expansion is part of a £650million investment this year. Aldi has a long-term target of 1,500 UK stores.

Meanwhile, Aldi store assistants received a pay increase earlier this year, with hourly rates rising to at least £12.75 and £14.05 within the M25. It has also committed to a further pay increase for store colleagues from September 2025.

This will take its minimum rates of pay to £12.85 per hour nationally and £14.16 per hour for those within the M25.
