Operation Sindoor:
India, in a tri-services 'Operation Sindoor', conducted precision strikes on terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) at 1:44 am on Wednesday, May 7. The 'Operation Sindoor' was launched by the Indian forces in response to the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir on April 22.
According to reports, the Indian forces targeted terrorist locations in Pakistan. In retaliation for the Pahalgam terror attack, Indian armed forces carried out missile strikes early Wednesday, hitting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and PoK from where terrorist attacks against India have been planned and directed, the Indian Army said.
Ties between India and Pakistan deteriorated following the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22 in which 26 people, mostly tourists, were killed.
India announced a series of punitive measures against Pakistan, including the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, shutting down of the only operational land border crossing at Attari and downgrading of diplomatic ties following the terror attack.
After the Pahalgam Attack, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had given a "free-hand" to defence forces to avenge the April 22 Pahalgam attack.
