The Maharashtra State Government has implemented the Revised Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) for the Kharif 2025 and Rabi 2025–26 seasons on a production-based model. The scheme will be applicable for one year, and the Agriculture Insurance Company of India Ltd., Mumbai has been appointed to execute the scheme in Raigad district.
The insurance scheme is optional for both loanee and non-loanee farmers, and the last date to enroll is July 31. Farmers growing notified crops — including those who cultivate on leased or rented land — are eligible to participate.
Starting this year, several major changes have been introduced. It is now mandatory for farmers to register their crops using the Digital Crop Survey App (e-Pik Pahani) and to obtain an AgriStack Farmer ID. Authorities have clarified that if any discrepancy is found between the e-survey data and the insurance application, the insurance will be cancelled and the premium amount will be forfeited.
For paddy crops, the insurance premium is Rs 457.50 per hectare, while for ragi (finger millet), it is Rs 100 per hectare. The previous nominal premium scheme of Rs 1 is no longer applicable.

A consent letter, copy of the bank passbook, digital crop survey confirmation, and AgriStack Farmer ID are also mandatory.
The Agriculture Department has urged farmers to complete their insurance applications within the given deadline to safeguard themselves from potential crop losses. For more information, farmers are advised to contact their respective Taluka Agriculture Officers, a statement released by Raigad administration, stated.
