Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The Madhya Pradesh government has announced a major relief for its employees by increasing the Dearness Allowance (DA) to 5% (total of 55%), bringing it in line with that of central government employees.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav made the announcement at an event organized by the Madhya Pradesh Gazetted Officers Association.

According to the announcement, the DA will be increased by 3% from July 1, 2024, and by an additional 2% from January 1, 2025. This will raise the current DA rate from 50% to 55%.
Employees will receive the arrears in five equal installments, which will be paid between June 2025 and October 2025.

Discussions on promotions underway
CM Yadav also shared the announcement through his official X handle and wrote, “Your hard work and dedication have helped build a better future for Madhya Pradesh. Ensuring a happy life and a secure future for our employees remains our top priority.”
The Chief Minister also addressed the long-pending issue of employee promotions. He acknowledged that the demand for promotions has been pending since 2016 and assured that the government is making efforts to resolve it soon for all employee categories.
This decision will put an additional burden of ₹175 crore on the state government.
Regarding promotions, Yadav said a cabinet committee has been formed to find a middle ground. Discussions are underway with representatives from various groups of officers to finalize a solution.
