Chhatarpur (Madhya Pradesh): A 95-year-old school, Adarsh Madhyamki Vidyalaya, in Nowgong has been merged with Sandipani School without permission from the district administration.
There were 391 students in the 95-year-old institution that has been merged with the Sandipani School.
The principal of the Sandipani School, RK Pathak, and the principal of Adarsh Madhyamik School, Mohan Ahirwar, had allegedly neither obtained any advice from the approval committee nor informed the district education officer about it.
But the parents of those who were studying in the school are worried about the principal’s sudden decision on the school’s merger.
According to sources, Adarsh Madhyamik School was established in 1930. Initially, it was a primary school. With the passage of time, it became a higher secondary school, which was shifted to another place.
It is an English-medium school where 391 students study. The principal quoted a provision of the Directorate of Public Instruction (DPI) for taking such a decision. But according to sources in the DPI, there is no such provision. Many parents lodged a complaint at the public hearing.

On the other hand, the principal of Adarsh Madhyamik School, Nowgong, Mohan Ahirwar, said the students of his school had been merged according to an order of the DPI.
Permission was obtained from the parents before taking the decision, Ahirwar said. When the issue was raised before a former legislator from Maharajpur, Neeraj Dikshit, he said he had received a complaint about it.
He said he had tried to have it raised in the House, but he did not get an opportunity for it. Dikshit said he would speak to the district education officer and launch an agitation. The merger of the school would be included in the agitation, he said.
