The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday named Union minister Mansukh Mandaviya as its election in-charge for the upcoming Puducherry Assembly elections, scheduled to be held next year. Union minister Arjun Ram Meghwal has been appointed as the co-incharge for the polls.
The term of the current Puducherry Legislative Assembly ends on June 15, 2026. The Union Territory is presently governed by an alliance led by the All India N.R. Congress, in which the BJP is a key partner.
Announcing the appointments, BJP national general secretary Arun Singh said, "BJP national president Jagat Prakash Nadda has appointed Mansukh Mandaviya, Union minister, as election in-charge, and Arjun Ram Meghwal, Union minister, as co-incharge for the forthcoming assembly elections in Puducherry."
He added that the appointments come into effect immediately.
