Rajasthan Royals skipper is set to miss his team's upcoming game against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Thursday, April 24.

Samson faced a painful abdominal injury against Delhi Capitals which forced to retire hurt almost immediately. He also missed the previous  game against the Lucknow Super Giants on Saturday, April 19, which Royals lost by a narrow margin of two runs.

In Samson's absence,  will continue as the stand-in skipper. This is the second time Samson has faced injury-related issues, as he played Royals' first three games as a specialist batter due to a finger injury he picked during the T20I series against England. Meanwhile, the franchise has confirmed that Samson's progress is being monitored and a "game-by-game" approach will be followed.

“Samson is currently undergoing recovery and will remain at the team's home base (Jaipur) with select RR medical staff. As part of his ongoing rehab process, he will not be travelling to Bangalore for the upcoming match against RCB. The team management is monitoring his progress closely and will take a game-by-game approach regarding his return to action,” the franchise said in a statement.

It has been a disastrous season for the Rajasthan Royals so far as they are currently standing at eighth position on the points table with only two wins and six losses. The team is starting at a group-stage elimination and needs to win all of their remaining games to qualify without depending on other results.

The team faced a tough two-run loss against the Lucknow Super Giants at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium in Jaipur while in an attempt to chase down a total of 180. Despite the efforts from Yashasvi Jaiswal and Parag they failed to counter the phenomenal death bowling from the Lucknow franchise bowlers.
