Mandangad (Maharashtra) [India], October 12 (ANI): Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Sunday hailed Chief Justice of India (CJI) BR Gavai, calling him the "true heir of Babasaheb Ambedkar's ideals" for his continued commitment to ensuring justice for the last person in society.
Shinde was speaking at the inauguration of the new Civil and Criminal Court building in Mandangad, Ratnagiri district, where he highlighted Justice Gavai's humility, integrity, and dedication to upholding the values of equality and justice enshrined in the Constitution.
"Just as Babasaheb Ambedkar's goal was to ensure that justice reaches the last person in society, today it is a coincidence that through the hands of Justice Gavai, the workers who built the court building have been felicitated. His constant aim has been to deliver impartial justice to the people. In fact, I consider Justice Gavai to be the true heir of Babasaheb Ambedkar's ideals. Justice Bhushan Gavai has the vision to ensure that justice reaches every village and every last person in society. His very presence among us is our good fortune. We take immense pride that such a son of Maharashtra has risen to the post of CJI and continues to protect justice for the last person in society," Shinde said.
He further said that Justice Gavai's humility and his ability to connect warmly with everyone make him an extraordinary personality within the judiciary.
"His humble nature, politeness, and ability to warmly connect with everyone, calling people by name and speaking to them affectionately, make him an extraordinary personality who lives among common people. Even in the face of minor incidents, he remains unwavering and works with firm resolve. That is why Justice Gavai is truly a jewel of the Indian judicial system," he added.
This comes after an incident occurred, where a 71-year-old lawyer, Rakesh Kishore, entered Court Room 1 of the Supreme Court of India on Monday and attempted to throw an object at CJI BR Gavai. He was immediately arrested by security personnel and escorted off the premises.
The attack on CJI Gavai has been strongly criticised by most leaders in the political circle.
Sources reveal that while being removed, the lawyer said, "Sanatan ka apman nahi sahega Hindustan."
Meanwhile, on this occasion, Supreme Court Chief Justice Bhushan Gavai, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court Chandrashekhar, the first judge of the Kolhapur Bench Makarand Karnik, State Industries Minister and Guardian Minister of Ratnagiri District Uday Samant, Guardian Judge of Ratnagiri District Madhav Jamdar, State Home Minister Yogesh Kadam, Chief In-Charge Judge of Ratnagiri Vinod Jadhav, Civil Judge Amruta Joshi, Bar Council President Amol Sawant, Sangram Desai, and many other dignitaries were present.
