Morgan Gibbs-White situation addressed by Nottingham Forest star amid Spurs transfer talk

Nottingham Forest are pressing on with their preparations despite the swirling rumours surrounding key player Morgan Gibbs-White.

Defender Ola Aina has made it clear that the chatter about the England international hasn't caused any disruption in the squad. The player at the heart of the speculation was greeted warmly by Forest supporters during their pre-season match against AS Monaco.

Gibbs-White was close to a switch to London last week when Tottenham Hotspur activated a £60 million buyout clause in his contract. Forest are reportedly displeased with what they deem an unlawful approach from their Premier League counterparts, yet Spurs' interest persists.

It's been reported that Gibbs-White is eager to have his future sorted before Nuno Espirito Santo's side depart for a summer training camp in Portugal on Monday. Nonetheless, the 25-year-old set aside the whispers as he featured for the first half of his team's goalless draw with Monaco at Chesterfield's SMH Group Stadium.

"No one is unsettled or rattled. Morgan is a professional. He is here today and has been training all week," Aina told Nottinghamshire Live.

"He is a professional. He is doing his job. Whatever is going on, that's up to him. But everyone is happy with him and we're all training and working hard, just like normal."

Reds fans greeted Gibbs-White with a resounding cheer when his name was announced before the match against the Ligue 1 team. Following his warm-down at half-time, the crowd serenaded him with chants as he left the pitch.

Gibbs-White acknowledged the affection with a heart-shaped hand gesture. While it's uncertain if this will be his last outing in Garibaldi red, Aina emphasised the significance of the warm reception, indicating the high regard in which the forward is held Trentside.

"That's how much everyone loves him. He's obviously loved here," said the defender, reflecting on the moment.

"I don't think (a negative reception) would ever happen. He's done a lot for the club. He's a fantastic player and everyone knows that."

Forest faced a solid challenge from Monaco in their second summer friendly, with both teams showcasing some promising play. Nuno, the head coach, fielded two separate line-ups for each half as the squad ramps up their fitness ahead of the 2025/26 season.
