Tottenham have completed the signing of Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig. The Netherlands international makes the move to north London in a deal worth £51.8million, signing a long-term deal with the club.
The arrival of Simons comes as a huge boost to head coach Thomas Frank in terms of the No.10 position in his team right now. James Maddison recently joined Dejan Kulusevski in the treatment room after sustaining an ACL injury that will keep him out for the vast majority of the campaign.
Simons can take on that role in Frank's Tottenham XI and he also has experience of playing from either the left wing or right wing. In the 2024/25 campaign, Simons registered 11 goals and eight assists in his 33 games in all competitions for RB Leipzig.

A transfer away from the Bundesliga club always looked likely to come to fruition this summer, with Chelsea keen on luring him to Stamford Bridge. However, it is across the capital where he will be playing his football over the years to come after opting to sign on the dotted line in N17.
The signing of Simons comes after what has been an extremely frustrating search for a new No.10. Tottenham firstly saw a move for Nottingham Forest's Morgan Gibbs-White fall apart despite activating the release clause in his contract, before then seeing north London rivals Arsenal make a late move to snatch Eberechi Eze from their grasp.
Tottenham fans will have to bide their time to see Simons make his debut for the club as the first international break of the season takes place after Saturday's home match against Bournemouth. Spurs travel to West Ham on Saturday, September 13 in what is their first game after the break in play, with a home encounter against Brighton & Hove Albion to come the following week.
